Ada County voters invited to hear from County Commission and Highway District candidates in upcoming forums
Boise, ID – Population growth, traffic, property taxes, construction, and the county jail are among likely topics for two Ada County forums scheduled October 22 and 27. The Ada County Highway District event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Idaho and the American Association of University Women. BABE VOTE will join the League and AAUW as co-sponsor of the Ada County Commission forum.
“Sadly, the number of opportunities Idaho voters have to interact directly with candidates from across the political spectrum is shrinking,” Jean Henscheid, Idaho League president, said. “We applaud those who have stepped up to meet with each other and with the voting public to engage in this critical aspect of the democratic process.
The Federal Election Commission’s criteria for non-debates will be applied to both forums. Each event will be, “A place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue are exchanged.”
A moderator will ask each candidate questions written by audience members. The moderator may interject clarifying questions, and a timekeeper will ensure that each candidate receives equal opportunities to speak.
